New Delhi, April 7: Injured Reece Topley and Rajat Patidar have been replaced by Wayne Parnell and Vyshak Vijay Kumar by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
“Topley suffered a shoulder injury while fielding during RCB’s opening match of the season against Mumbai Indians (MI). Patidar did not feature in RCB’s first game of the season due to a heel injury. He has not recovered yet and is ruled out of the 16th edition of the tournament owing to the same,” Indian Premier League said in a statement.
In addition to 6 Tests and 73 ODIs, Parnell has played for South Africa in 56 T20 Internationals. He also has 59 T20 International wickets to his credit. The left-arm bowler has taken as many IPL wickets in his 26 IPL games played.

Patidar’s successor, Vyashak Vijay Kumar plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and has played 14 T20 matches, taking 22 wickets. He joins RCB for INR 20 Lakh.
Topley, an English bowler that RCB acquired for the 2023 IPL season, dislocated his right shoulder on April 2 while playing for his team against Mumbai Indians (MI). He was therefore unable to participate in the league.
While dismissing Cameron Green in his debut, Topley took 1/14, hurting his shoulder in the process. He had flown to Kolkata to represent his team against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but David Willey, a fellow countryman and all-rounder, took his position in the starting lineup. Topley is now back in the UK.
Patidar, on the other hand, was unable to play because of an injury to his Achilles heel. He had a strike rate of 152.75 and scored 333 runs in seven innings while averaging 55.50. He also had two hundreds and a hundred.
He was selected for India’s ODI team in the summer of 2017 as a result of his league accomplishments as well as his outstanding performance during the title-winning Ranji Trophy season in 2021–22, during which he made 658 runs in six matches with two hundreds and five fifties.
Regarding the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team’s IPL 2023 campaign, despite a strong start, the Faf du Plessis-led team lost to the visiting Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday night by an 81-run margin after giving up a lot of runs with the ball in the final 10 overs.
