Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to negotiate a ceasefire and end the ongoing war, which he claims has resulted in massive loss of life and financial strain on the United States.
“President Putin and President Zelenskyy need to get together because we want to stop the war and stop killing millions of people. I want to see a ceasefire, and I want to get the deal done,” Trump said. He further emphasized that the conflict primarily affects Europe, while the US remains distant from its direct impact.
Trump Calls Zelenskyy a ‘Dictator Without Elections’
In a scathing attack, Trump criticized Zelenskyy, calling him “a dictator without elections” and accusing him of mismanaging the war. He alleged that Ukraine has lost control, millions of lives have been destroyed, and a significant portion of US financial aid has gone missing.
“Zelenskyy admits that half of the money we sent him is ‘MISSING.’ He refuses to hold elections, is very low in Ukrainian polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ’like a fiddle,’” Trump wrote.
Criticism Over US Financial Aid to Ukraine
Trump expressed frustration over the financial burden on the US, claiming it has provided $300 billion in aid to Ukraine, compared to Europe’s $100 billion. He blamed Joe Biden’s administration for approving massive aid without securing loans or guarantees in return.
“We have put in much more money. We are in for $300 billion, and they (Europe) are in for $100 billion. Biden just gave them money, there was no loan or security. We have to sign a deal to get security. We are spending our treasure on a country that is very far away,” he said.
Trump also accused Zelenskyy of manipulating the US into excessive spending, insisting that the war cannot be wonand never should have started.
“Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 billion, to go into a war that couldn’t be won, that never had to start,” he posted on Truth Social.
‘Only Trump Can Bring Peace’
Trump claimed that his administration alone could successfully negotiate an end to the war with Russia.
“We are successfully negotiating an end to the war with Russia, something all admit only ‘TRUMP’ and the Trump Administration, can do,” he declared.
While expressing support for Ukraine, he blamed Zelenskyy’s leadership for the country’s current state.
“I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his country is shattered, and millions have unnecessarily died,” he said.
Elon Musk Backs Trump’s Criticism
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has emerged as Trump’s close ally, also echoed similar sentiments. Musk criticized Ukraine’s handling of the war, holding Zelenskyy responsible for the unnecessary loss of thousands of lives.
