Ranchi, Sept 30: The compulsion of having two phones to appear in an online examination organized by a section of private schools has put students and their parents in trouble.

A section of students in the city expressed their problems by saying that during the online exam they have to use two devices–one device to show one’s presence in the class and another to view question papers.

“My parents have provided me with one phone. Now arranging two has become a problem,” said a student of Surendranath Centenary School.

Moreover, students also said that they have to face the issue of different warnings by the teachers due to the internet connectivity issues.

However, Principal of DAV Kapildev Public School M K Sinha denied it and said that the school is using zoom as well as google meet for online exams and they are quite satisfied as they do not get any complaints from the parents’ side.

Similarly, Principal of Surendranath Centenary School Samita Sinha said that she has ordered students to use only a single device during the examination and they are using google classroom for online examination.

The current situation has developed due to the use of online platforms such as google meet and zoom which are not meant for online education.

Such platforms provide a very good medium for interactive sessions but when it comes to online examination it fails to provide the service as it does not have the feature of background video support. For which students have to use two devices to be present in the class as well as to view the question paper. Failing to be visible in the class the student will be removed from the class and also will not be able to appear in the examination.

It has been more than a year for online education but schools have failed to come up with some solutions in the form of online platforms. This has developed a mental pressure on students as well as the parents as they have to be ready with two devices during the time of examination.

On the other hand, many schools such as JVM Shyamali and St Francis School have developed their own platform for online examination with the help of different tech giants.
