Ranchi, June 9: Delhi Public School, Ranchi recently organised an expedition to the historical and captivating land of Egypt for its students. The excursion took place over a span of ten days, during which the students had the opportunity to explore Egypt’s rich history, iconic landmarks, and vibrant traditions. Students delved deep into the mysteries of ancient Egypt while also indulging in the country’s modern charms under the guidance of teachers.
The journey commenced in Cairo, Egypt’s bustling capital and proceeded towards Alexandria the largest city on the Mediterranean coast. Continuing their excursion, the students ventured into Aswan (the Land of Gold) where they explored Phile Temple and High Dam.
The excursion included a serene cruise ride in River Nile from Aswan to Kom Ombo – a temple having exemplary architecture. After that, they went to Esna and experienced the crossing of ships through Esna Dam which was a marvelous experience to observe. The cruise ride ended at Luxor and then the journey began to the Valley of Kings and Temple of Hatshepsut. The vivid wall paintings and hieroglyphics provided a glimpse into the civilization that existed thousands years ago.
From there, they visited Hurghada Resort and enjoyed the snorkelling and swimming in an island in Red Sea. Then the next leg of the journey to the most awaited spot of Eygpt – Pyramids of Giza which is one of the Seven wonders of the World and the “Light and Sound Show” which exhibited the architecture and rich history of the country. It was a moment of tranquillity and reflection, as they absorbed the enriching history of that country.
The professional Egyptologist also accompanied the group throughout the trip and shared the captivating stories and historical anecdotes, enhancing the students’ understanding of Egypt’s past.
As part of their cultural immersion, the students also had the opportunity to experience daily life in Egypt. They visited bustling bazaars, where the sights, sounds, and aromas overwhelmed their senses. Engaging with local vendors, the students discovered Egyptian handicrafts, sampled traditional cuisine, and even tried their hand at bargaining. They also visited perfume factories and acquainted themselves with Papyrus Paintings – the specimen of Egyptian art. This awe-inspiring journey, filled with cultural immersion and enlightening experiences, proved to be an unforgettable adventure for all those involved.
As the excursion came to an end, students bid farewell to Egypt with hearts full of cherished memories and knowledge. The journey had not only provided a deeper understanding of ancient history but had also fostered personal growth and cultural appreciation among the students.
