Ranchi, April 1: Demanding justice for Dr Archana Sharma, an alumnus of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) who committed suicide on March 29 at Lalsot in Rajasthan following a protest and FIR against her after the death of a patient admitted for delivery under her care, the doctors of IMA, Jharkhand chapter took out a candle march from the IMA office to the SP residence on April 1 in Ranchi.

National Co-Chairperson Dr Bharti Kashyap of the Indian Medical Association Women Doctors Wing during the candle march said that the culprits should be terminated immediately by prosecution under the fast track court.

This thing happened during the time of the former Chief Secretary but the appointment has not been made yet,” said Dr Kashyap.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jharkhand chapter, and the Jharkhand Health Services Association (JHSA), the frontal organization of government doctors, have called 12 hours (7 am to 7 pm) bandh call of the private and government health centres across the state tomorrow.

IMA state president Dr AK Singh, secretary Dr Pradip Singh, vice-president ( headquarter) Dr  RS Das, treasurer Dr  BP Kashyap, JHSA president Dr  Marsal Aiend, secretary Dr Bimlesh Kumar Singh in a joint letter have appealed to all doctors to abstain from their respective places of work, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes tomorrow in protest against Dr Archana’s death.
