Ranchi, Dec 12: Jharkhand police DSP Pramod Kumar Mishra did not turn up before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday despite a categorical written order of state DGP Niraj Sinha asking him to appear before the ED for his questioning in the Barharwa toll case.
The ED had issued him summons on December 6 asking him to appear before the agency on December 12. It was expected that he would arrive at the zonal office of the agency in Ranchi at 11 AM. But he did not turn up.
“The DGP on December 8 had issued a written instruction to DSP Pramod Kumar Mishra and asked him to cooperate with the ED in the money laundering probe. A copy of that letter was sent to the ED also. But he neither came nor informed reasons for not turning up. He has also not sought any fresh date,’ well-placed sources said.
Earlier, posted in Sahibganj police as the DSP of Barharwa he is the second DSP of Sahibganj whom the ED summoned. Earlier, the ED questioned DSP Rajendra Dubey who is facing an allegation of acting on behalf of illegal stone mining accused Pankaj Mishra to tamper with the evidence and harass witnesses of the agency.
The ED is investigating the stone mining scam in Sahibganj based on the Barharwa toll plaza case. Pramod Kumar Mishra had supervised and gave a final report in the Barharwa toll plaza tender case within 24 hours the FIR was lodged. He gave a clean chit to Congress minister Alamgir Alam beside Pankaj Mishra. The DSP did this under political pressure and despite the fact complainant, Shambhu Nandan Kumar had claimed that the minister and Pankaj Mishra had threatened him for participating in the toll plaza tender.
Pankaj Mishra is the MLA representative of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and he is currently in jail in the illegal stone mining case. The ED has filed a prosecution complaint against him.
