The sub-capital town here had witnessed large-scale outrage against Bhagwat Rout’s murder who was having political affiliation with the BJP after switching over from the JMM along with his supporter cadres.

Rout was murdered when he was on his way home in the Mahuadangal locality of the town at around 10 PM allegedly by Pappu Rout, his relative, having fired two shots at him from point-blank range and escaped along with other accomplices.

The rest of the accused Shishupal Rout, Sambhu Rout, Narayan Hari, Kishore Yadav, Munna Dubey and Viplav Sharma were declared to have staged the murder of the former district board member together with the main accused Pappu Yadav for ensuring their dominance in the locality.

Defence lawyer K N Goswami said that all the accused persons were found guilty of committing a crime under sections 302, 34, 120(B) of the IPC  and Arms Act.
