Ranchi, Aug 29: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais has taken cognizance of the matter of Ankita Singh’s murder case in Dumka.
He spoke over phone to the Chief Secretary and the DGP to make him aware of the case and follow up action.

Singh, a Class XII, was set on August 23 in Dumka. A youth named Shahrukh Hussain unhappy with no response from the girl on his friendship proposal allegedly sprinkled petrol on the girl when she was sleeping and set her on fire.
The victim died during treatment at RIMS in Jharkhand on August 28. She was referred to RIMS from Dumka for better treatment.
It is being alleged by BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi that a deputy superintendent of police in Dumka, Noor Mustafa, tried to save the accused by minimizing the case.
