Duo of Ponnappa-Sikki bow out of Indonesia Open 2022

Jakarta, June 16: Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy, a women’s doubles team, were eliminated from the Indonesia Open 2022 on Thursday after losing in the Round of 16 matches in Jakarta.

Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan of China defeated the Indian duo 21-16, 21-13 on Court 1 in a match that lasted 39 minutes.

Apart from them, Indian shuttler Sameer Verma bowed out of the competition after losing his men’s singles match. In a 41-minute match, he was defeated by Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia 21-10, 21-13.

Later in the day, Prannoy HS will compete in a men’s singles match against Hong Kong’s Angus Ng Ka Long, while M R Ajun and Dhruv Kapila will compete in a men’s doubles match against China’s Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi.
