Jakarta, April 14: The US Geological Survey (USGS) said on Friday that an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 on the Richter scale occurred in the water to the north of Java, an Indonesian island.
According to the UGSS, the powerful earthquake occurred at 4:55 pm local time (09:55 GMT), and Indonesia’s geological agency ruled out a tsunami after determining that the epicentre was located at a depth of 594 kilometres (370 miles).
