New Delhi, Feb 4: The Ukhrul district of Manipur, which is 80 kilometres northeast of the state’s capital Imphal, was struck by an earthquake on Saturday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The earthquake, which struck the town at 6:14 a.m., took place 10 kilometres beneath the surface of the earth.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.0, Occurred on 04-02-2023, 06:14:55 IST, Latitude: 25.13 & Longitude: 94.67, Depth: 10 km, location: Ukhrul, Manipur, India,” NCS said in a tweet.
Earlier on Friday night, a magnitude 3.2 earthquake hit regions of western Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The earthquake struck the area at 9:31 p.m., according to the country’s nodal body for earthquake activity monitoring. Its epicentre was in Shamli.
According to the most recent earthquake reports from NCS, there were 38 earthquakes reported in Indian territory during the month of December.
