Ranchi, May 14: The Garhwa district administration has clarified that it is yet to send an additional report to the Election Commission of India regarding Garhwa MLA and minister Mithilesh Thakur that whether or not he concealed information about his business activities in his election affidavit.
On being contracted, Garhwa DC Ramesh Gholap said that the commission has sought some clarification on certain points.
“The report was sent to the commission as sought. The commission has now sought clarifications on certain points that are yet to be replied. I am busy conducting the panchayat elections. But I will send the additional report on time,” the Garhwa DC said.
When contacted, Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand K. Ravikumar said that the matter is under process and no decision has been taken as far as his knowledge is concerned.
The political atmosphere remained surcharged after a media report said that the Garhwa DC had submitted his report to the election commission and he has given a clean chit to the minister. Adding spice to the story BJP’s Godda MP Nishikant Dubey tweeted and claimed that the minister is set to lose membership of the Jharkhand assembly. “The Election Commission of India has rejected the clean chit given by the Garhwa DC. The Commission is going to serve notice to Mithilesh Thakur for the termination of his membership. Action will be taken against the DC of Garhwa also,” he tweeted.
An RTI activist Sunil Mahto filed a complaint against Mithilesh Thakur under section 9 (A) of the People’s Representation Act. He claimed that while contesting the election the Minister did not disclose about companies where he is the partner besides he uses his clouts to get contracts for his companies. Mahto in the petition submitted to the commission on March 23 this year said that the minister is a partner in Satyam Builder which got a number of contracts.
