New Delhi, Nov 30: Amit Arora, a close friend of Delhi’s deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, was detained by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday in connection with a liquor policy case. Arora is the director of Buddy Retail, situated in Gurugram.

The ED has so far made five arrests in connection with the money laundering case involving the Delhi Excise policy. Sameer Mahandru, a businessman in the liquor industry, was detained by the ED on September 27 after being questioned.

In the case, which was launched after the financial investigation agency took cognizance of a CBI FIR that was registered on the advice of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, 169 search operations have thus far been conducted.

Amit Arora, Dinesh Arora, and Arjun Pandey, according to earlier allegations made by the CBI, are close allies of Sisodia and actively involved in handling and transferring the undue pecuniary advantage obtained from liquor licensees for the accused public officials.

Minister Manish Sisodia, who was mentioned in the CBI FIR, was not mentioned in the CBI charge sheet, which is submitted 60 days after the investigation is opened.
