Ranchi, Nov 29: Illegally opened record of right (Jamavandi) on forest land in Barhu and Navatoli village under Kanke Circle of Jharkhand capital has been cancelled by the district administration.
The action was taken after a Kanke Circle officer did proper verification of the land.
Former member of Tribal Advisory Cancel Ratan Tirkey informed about the development saying that the action was taken after the matter was brought into the knowledge of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribe.
“The National ST Commission took cognizance into the matter after Singbonga Jatra Samiti President Ashok Oraon informed the constitutional body that the land on which Jamvandi has been opened is actually Gair Mazarua and Forest Land, which is for use of community not for an individual,” Tirkey said.
He also shared the letter issued from the office of the circle officer on November 21 this year in this matter.
The letter suggests that CO cancelled the Jamavandi of some of the plots which was possible at his level while for cancellation of the Jamavandi of those plots, which involves legal action in the high court, wrote additional collectors.
Tirkey said Oraon today also took off for New Delhi to appear before the National Commissioner for Scheduled Tribe tomorrow.
“The commission taking cognizance in the matter called Oraon to New Delhi while also summoning concerned government officials for proper action. Oraon took off for Delhi this morning and he is expected to appear before the commission tomorrow,” Tirkey said.
He also welcomed the development saying he had also played his role for the same. He said how he had first lodged a complaint with the deputy commissioner of Ranchi and then before the Land revenue secretary of the state.
