Ranchi, Oct 8: The special Ranchi PMLA Court on Saturday granted seven days police remand of Kolkata based businessman Amit Agarwal in the money laundering. He will be produced before the court on October 15. This remand period will be effective from Sunday.

The Enforcement Directorate that arrested him on Friday requested 14 days of police remand.
He was arrested in connection with cash for PIL where on the basis of his complaint Kolkata Police had arrested Jharkhand High Court Advocate Rajiv Kumar along with Rs. 50 Lakh cash.

Amit Agrawal alleged that Rajiv Kumar demanded Rs 10 Crore for not framing his name and his companies in shell company-related PIL which Rajiv Kumar was representing before the Jharkhand High Court on behalf of the petitioner Shiv Shankar Sharma. He stated that Rajiv Kumar forced him to pay money as he also had to manage judiciary and investigating officers.

The ED took over this case as Kolkata police summoned one of its officer, Subodh Kumar, for questioning. It was stated that Kolkata police forced Rajeev Kumar to name some ED officials and people from judiciary also. Amit Agrawal is said to be closely connected with the present government headed by Hemant Soren.
