Dhanbad, Oct 8: Dr NK Singh of Dhanbad has bagged the the RSSDI Fellowship national award of 2022 for his outstanding research and contribution in the field of diabetes.
The award was given to DR NK Singh today at the 50th national convocation of the Research Society for Study of Diabetes (RSSDI) in India in Chennai. Dr Singh was the first physician among the members to be selected for this prestigious award of the year.
Dr Sudha, the vice chancellor of MDR University, Chennai, presented the award to Dr Singh in the inaugural function of the four-day conference where around 10,000 members of the society are participating. RSSDI national president Dr Basant Kumar and secretary Dr Sanjay Agrawal were also present at the function.
Dr NK Singh is the chairman of Jharkhand chapter of RSSDI and has done many researches in the field of diabetes. He has also conducted a survey on the impact of diabetes in different sections of people in urban and rural pockets of the state.
Besides regular research in diabetes, Dr Singh came into the national limelight last month when he was elected the executive member of RSSDI by thumping votes. He was the first doctor of Jharkhand who contested elections in the national body and became an executive member. Dr AK Virmani of Jamshedpur was also elected executive member from the East Zone seat in the election.
Notably, Dr Singh and the RSSDI Jharkhand chapter run massive campaigns in the state to awareness of people about the ‘silent killer’ (diabetes) and preventive measures.
