VIJAY DEO JHA

Ranchi, Nov 3: Heavy deployment of police forces has been made outside the Ranchi zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the wake of a notice issued to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the illegal mining case.

While the ED asked him to turn up before the agency for questioning today at 11.30 AM, Hemant Soren did not turn up. He, in fact, is not going to turn up till November 15 owing to various official engagements. He is set to visit Raipur today to attend a tribal dance festival organized at Raipur in Chhattisgarh. He will depart to Raipur at 4 PM.

However, there is no information so far whether the Chief Minister has sought time from the ED owing to his official engagements.

The summon has triggered a political war and the Chief Minister has dared that he would give a befitting reply.

Thick hints are coming out that the agency is now moving for some conclusive actions. This is an indication of the probe now inching close to higher echelons of the state executive and political class. ED Joint Director Kapil Raj is said to be stationed himself in Ranchi.

Powerbroker Prem Prakash is learnt to have spilled beans about some of bureaucrats and the ED is ascertaining whether Prem Prakash had transactions with these persons that may attract provisions of the money laundering act.
