Ranchi, Nov 3: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to organise a Reading Challenge with an aim to promote reading literacy among students. The challenge is being organised in Hindi and English languages for classes VI to VII (Level I) and for classes VIII to X (Level II).

As per a circular released by the CBSE, the competition will be organised in two rounds in order to test the reading speed and accuracy of the students. The reading challenge paper with reading tasks would comprise a variety of stimulants followed by objective-type questions. The first round will be organised at the school level while the second round will be organised at an inter-school level. Students would not have to pay any fees for participation in the competition.

During the competitions at the school level, the best two participants from each class will be selected for the second round of the competition for the English version of the competition. The registration of the students for the first round by the school will have to be done on www.cbse.gov.in or www.cbseacademic.nic.in website by November 25, 2022. All students of classes VI to X in CBSE-affiliated schools are eligible to participate in the first round. Schools would be required to register students for this round.

The competition will have to be organised at the school level between November 28 and 30 2022. After this, the top 10 best participants for the second round would need to be registered by December 16, 2022. Meanwhile, the second round will be conducted by the board from December 19 to 30 2022.

Notably, the competition would engage participants with a variety of stimulants and focus on the ability to read with comprehension and accuracy; construct meaning by retrieving information, relating text with their previous knowledge and integrating information; interpret information and draw inferences; reflect and evaluate with a view to judge the quality and credibility of the text.

All the participants of the second round would be issued online participation by the Board. Appreciation certificates would be given to the best-performing students. For any clarifications, candidates may send an email to cbse.reading.mission@cbseshiksha.in or call on 011-23211575.
