New Delhi, July 29: The Enforcement Directorate on Friday started a probe into three companies linked to Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of sacked Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee.
Both have been charged and are being looked into in relation to a scam involving the recruitment of teachers in West Bengal.
Symbiosis Merchants Private Limited, Sentry Engineering Private Limited, and Arpita Echhay Entertainment Private Limited are all under investigation by the agency. This follows the agency’s recovery of gold and nearly Rs 50 crore in cash from her properties.
Mukherjee was chosen to serve as the director of Symbiosis Merchants, a company founded on March 21, 2011, in Kolkata. On paper, the company appears to be engaged in the wholesale distribution of a wide range of items. On July 1, 2021, Kalyan Dhar, her brother-in-law, was appointed director of the business.
On November 9, 2011, she was appointed director of Sentry Engineering. The company was established in 2001 with a Rs 1 crore authorised share capital. In 2018, Dhar was also appointed as the company’s director. They are currently the only two directors. According to the paperwork, this company produces machines for specialised purposes.
She served as the director when Arpita Echhay was incorporated on October 29, 2014. Sentry Engineering and Dhar were both hired as the company’s directors in the same year.
