Ranchi, Aug 24: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday began to carry out a search at the premises of Ranchi-based Chartered Accountant Shiv Shankar Jaipuriar besides power broker Prem Prakash. His premise is situated at C-218, Road No.2 of Ashok Nagar. The ED is also carrying out raids against Prem Prakash. As per the information, the ED began the raid on the basis of information provided by Pankaj Mishra.
The raid is being carried out in connection with the ongoing MNREGA and illegal mining scam being probed by the ED. He is the second CA after Suman Kumar Singh whose premise was raided by the ED.
Shiv Shankar Jaipuriar used to be a financial advisor of a political outfit and a couple of political persons of Jharkhand. His office is situated at Ashoknagar in Ranchi. A former CBI official said that during the 2012 Jharkhand Rajya Sabha cash for vote case his name had surfaced during the probe. But the agency did not get any further information.
Notably, the ED has carried out a second consecutive raid against power broker Prem Prakash. The ED first raided his premise on May 25 and questioned him for a couple of days. The raid is being carried out at as many as 17 locations in Jharkhand, Bihar, Delhi, and Tamil Nadu. It is believed that the raid in Tamil Nadu has some connection with the ‘ready-to-eat food supply at school.’ Prem Prakash is alleged to be instrumental in fixing this deal.
Prem Prakash is alleged to be deeply connected with several governments in Jharkhand and enjoyed enormous influence. The former BJP minister and MLA Saryu Roy alleged that Prem Prakash was personally connected with Raghubar Das and his various close associates and misused the government for personal gains.
The ED is also investigating his role in an extortion case in which Kolkata police arrested Jharkhand High Court advocate Rajiv Kumar.
