Ranchi, Nov 15: The Enforcement Directorate has turned down the request of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to question him on November 16 instead of November 17.

“Yes, we received a communication from CM Hemant Soren as he wanted to be questioned on November 16 whereas he is scheduled to be questioned on November 17. But the request has not been approved,” well-placed sources in the agency said.

However, unconfirmed news reports suggested that the ED has sent a letter to the state police headquarters to provide proper security for November 17 when the CM is scheduled to appear before the agency.

“No such letter has been written so far in this regard,” well-placed sources said.

The possibility cannot be ruled out that the ED may choose other locations out of Jharkhand to question Hemant Soren. But no confirmed information is available about this. This is the second summon that the ED sent to Hemant Soren for his questioning in Rs 1000 Crore illegal stone mining investigation case. He was asked to appear on November 17.
