Ranchi, Dec 9: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) strongly suspects Sahibganj DSP Rajendra Dubey was an accomplice of Pankaj Mishra in the laundering and accommodations of the proceeds of crime of the illegal stone mining.
The ED has taken details of his property and bank details as well as his relatives and directed him to provide some documents to the agency in a week’s time. “There is some evidence…his properties as well as his relatives are being investigated. He has been asked to produce some documents also. He had met Pankaj Mishra at RIMS paying ward in judicial custody on October 10 without permission and informing the concerned authority,” well placed sources said.
Rajendra Dubey was questioned by the ED on Friday in connection with the illegal stone mining and his association with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra. His questioning concluded around 7 PM.
Rajendra Dubey is facing allegations of acting on behalf of Pankaj Mishra to interfere in the money laundering probe. While lodged at the paying ward of the RIMS (where Pankaj Mishra was under treatment under the judicial custody), Pankaj Mishra used to make phone calls to DSP and other officials and gave them instructions.
On October 10, Rajendra Dubey had met Pankaj Mishra at RIMS without having any permission when he was in judicial custody. The ED asked him whether or not he was aware of the law that meeting an accused in judicial custody without permission is a crime? And whether or not he should be booked for this offence? The DSP could not give any satisfactory reply. He said he met Pankaj Mishra as an individual since he is the well-wisher of Pankaj Mishra.
He was asked whether he frequently spoke to Pankaj Mishra over phone from judicial custody. To this Rajendra Dubey said that men of Pankaj Mishra used to call him as they wanted to know about the well being of the family of Pankaj Mishra.
