Ranchi, Dec.9: The Jharkhand High Court asked the Jharkhand DGP and the Chief Secretary why June 10 violence cases should not be given to the CBI for probe.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan while hearing a PIL in the matter asked the above question before expressing its displeasure over the way cases related to June 10 violence are being investigated.
Some cases registered in this matter are being investigated by the police while some cases by the CID. On which the court took strong exception and verbally observed that it is an attempt to create confusion as when two different agencies of the state police probe the same matter it will come out with two different reports and it will end the purpose of the probe.
The high court, expressing its displeasure over the probe, directed the state home secretary and the DGP to appear in the court on December 15 and file a reply.
Violence had erupted on June 10 in the Jharkhand capital after Friday prayers in a mosque. Two persons were killed in the incident in police firing while protesting against suspended BJP leader Nupur. Sharma’s derogatory remarks on Prophet Mohammed. The incident had thrown normal life out of gear.
Pankaj Yadav filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Jharkhand High Court demanding the NIA or CBI in the matter.
