New Delhi, June 29: Devotees from all over the nation performed prayers on the auspicious occasion of Eid-Al-Adha or Bakrid on Thursday.
Following the Eid al-Adha namaz, devotees were seen greeting one another in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
On the auspicious day, big groups of worshippers offered namaz in the open ground in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.
Outside the Fatehpuri Masjid in Delhi, devotees gathered to pray. On the occasion of Eid, crowds of devotees gathered outside Delhi’s Jama Masjid to offer prayers.
Former Union Minister and BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi sent his best wishes for Eid-Al-Adha after offering namaz at Panja Sharif Dargah, Kashmere Gate in the capital.
In Jammu, a sizable number of people were seen doing namaz.
On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, security was stepped up in Delhi near Jama Masjid.
DCP Central, Sanjay Kumar Sain, said: “Security of the people is our top priority and with the help of MCD, we are ensuring that the area is clean and hygienic. Around 1,000 district police personnel are present here. Outside force is also supporting us.”
In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, devotees gathered to offer prayers on the occasion.
In Mumbai also people were spotted offering namaz at a dargah.
In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, people performed namaz in honour of the holy occasion.
The holy event Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakra Eid, is marked on June 29 this year and is known as the “festival of sacrifice.” It takes place on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelveth month of the Islamic or lunar calendar. It signifies the conclusion of the yearly Hajj trip.
Eid al-Adha is a time of joy and serenity when people gather with their families, put the past behind them, and establish deep bonds with one another. It is observed to remember Prophet Abraham’s determination to give up all for God.
