Ayodhya: Police have registered an FIR against eight people at the Ram Janmabhoomi police station following a complaint by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust over alleged embezzlement of donations and offerings at the Ram Mandir. All eight have been arrested. The action was taken on the basis of the preliminary investigation report of the SIT constituted by the Yogi government, following a complaint filed by Trust member Krishna Mohan.

Who Was Arrested

The arrested individuals are Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava, and Ramashankar Yadav alias Tinna. All were involved in the counting process of cash donations and valuables at the temple and were allegedly caught on CCTV footage stealing money during the counting process. Cases have been registered under BNS sections related to criminal conspiracy and breach of trust.

How the Scam Was Uncovered

The embezzlement came to light when employees drawing salaries of Rs 18,000 to 20,000 per month were found to have purchased crores of rupees worth of property. The revelations prompted the Uttar Pradesh government to form a three-member SIT under Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant.
