Kathua: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Saturday evening in the Kog-Mandli villageof Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials from news agency PTI. The firefight took place around 5:30 PM during a cordon and search operation led by a joint team of police, army, and CRPF.
Security Operation in Kathua
Based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the remote Billawar area, the security forces launched the operation. As soon as the forces approached the village, contact was established with the terrorists, leading to an exchange of fire. A police official confirmed the development: “Contact has been established and few rounds have been fired from both sides.”
Reinforcements Deployed
Following the initial exchange of fire, additional security forces were deployed to the area to ensure the neutralization of the terrorists. The area has been placed under strict cordon to prevent any escape.
Earlier Encounter in Kulgam
Earlier in the day, two unidentified terrorists were killed, and five security personnel, including an officer, were injured in a separate encounter in Kulgam district. The gunbattle erupted in the Adigam village in Devsar, following a cordon-and-search operation by security forces in the early morning.

In the early exchange of fire in Kulgam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Mumtaz Ali sustained minor injuries from a stray bullet, and four other security personnel involved in the operation were also injured.
