Dhanbad, May 9: An engineering aspirant of Dumka district named Rupam Mandal committed suicide in Dhanbad. The incident took place in a rented house in Jaiprakash Nagar under Sadar police station on the late night of Monday.
Rupam Mandal committed suicide in his washroom, reportedly at around 2.30 am on Monday- Tuesday night with a plastic rope. He had gone to the washroom at around 2 am. When he did not come out after a long time, his roommates knocked on the door and found him hanged.
The police have recovered a suicide note of the deceased student written to his parents in which he has named several people who allegedly compelled him to take a drastic step. A love affair is said to be the reason behind the suicide.
Dhanbad Sadar police station officer in-charge Binay Kumar told media persons that the body has been sent for post-mortem at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital. Police are investigating the incident from different angles.
The student Rupam Mandal, a resident of the Gagra area of Dumka district had been preparing for the engineering competition along with three other students in a rented house in Jaiprakash Nagar for the last two years.
As per the suicide note, he fell in love with a girl. He had been under stress for some time after the girl got married a few days ago. He has alleged mental torture by the girl’s family members in his suicide note.
