New Delhi, Sep 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted engineers on Friday, adding that their creative brains and unwavering dedication had been the foundation of our country’s progress.
He paid them tributes on Engineer’s Day, which honours M Visvesvaraya, a pioneering engineer and administrator, on the occasion of his birthday.
Visvesvaraya, who was born on September 15, 1861, in Muddenahalli, close to Chikkaballapur, is regarded as one of the foremost nation-builders.
“Greetings to all hardworking engineers on Engineers’ Day! Their innovative minds and tireless dedication have been the backbone of our nation’s progress. From infrastructural marvels to tech breakthroughs, their contributions touch every aspect of our lives,” Modi said on X.

He praised Visvesvaraya, describing him as a statesman and visionary engineer. The Prime Minister remarked that he continues to motivate future generations to innovate and advance the country.
M. Visvesvaraya designed a number of notable structures that have come to define and describe modern India over time.
He also served from 1912 to 1918 as the 19th Dewan of Mysuru, formerly known as Mysore.
