Jamshedpur, Sept 15: Several places in western Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy rain today, said weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
According to the forecast, some places in central Jharkhand are also to experience heavy showers today.
The well-marked low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Odisha-West Bengal coasts now lies over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coasts.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
It is likely to move across Odisha and Chhattisgarh during the next two days.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Jamshedpur and thence Southeastwards to the centre of a well-marked low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts.
The trough was running from northeast Rajasthan to the centre of a well-marked low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coasts across northwest Madhya Pradesh, southeast Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand at 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, overcast conditions with intermittent rain prevailed at several places across the state since last night.
