Amaravati, April 7: The entire cabinet of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy resigned today, paving the way for a major shake-up a little more than halfway through his term, ahead of the state election in 2024.
After a cabinet meeting, twenty-four ministers handed in their resignations, marking the first step toward the huge reshuffle.
The resignations were delivered to Jagan Reddy, the only cabinet member who remained in place. According to insiders, only one or two ministers from the outgoing team are expected to be retained. These ministers will not be fired since they are the only members of politically important populations who require representation.
Each of the state’s newly established 26 districts is likely to be represented in the new cabinet. As of June 2019, when Jagan Reddy took over as Chief Minister, caste, region, religion, and gender would all be considered.
