European Commission President to visit India on April 24-25

New Delhi, April 19: President of European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen will be on an official visit to India on 24-25 April. During her visit, she will hold bilateral talks with PM Narendra Modi. She will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind and other dignitaries.

According to Ministry Of External Affairs, she has been invited as Chief Guest for this year’s edition of Raisina Dialogue and will address the inaugural session on 25 April. The visit of President of European Commission will be an opportunity to review progress and further intensify multifaceted partnership with EU.

“India and European Union share a vibrant Strategic Partnership which has been witnessing strong growth with wider and deeper co-operation in Political and Strategic, Trade and Commerce, Climate and Sustainability, Digital and Technology aspects as well as people-to-people ties,” ANI quoted MEA saying.

Notably, the Raisina Dialogue, which began in 2016, is India’s top forum on geopolitics and geoeconomics, hosted in New Delhi and dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing challenges. Every year, international leaders from politics, industry, the media, and civil society gather in New Delhi to examine the status of the world and explore potential for cooperation on a variety of current issues.

The Dialogue is organised as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral conversation comprising heads of state, cabinet ministers, and local government officials, as well as business sector, media, and academic thought leaders.The Observer Research Foundation is hosting the conference in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
