Daltonganj, July 26: Although Palamu is going rain less, but the Janta Darbars of Palamu DC Anjaneyulu Dodde sees a rain of complaints of land disputes.
Janta Darbars are held every Tuesday and Friday if there is no national or state holiday on these two days.
Speaking to lagatar24.com on Tuesday, DC Anjaneyulu Dodde said “Every second complaint that I receive is of a land dispute.”
Dodde said it is a big issue here. The land disputes are chronic. It is among brothers, fathers and uncles, daughters-in-law and father-in-law among other people.
A woman named Rekha Devi from Nilamber Pitamberpur block came to the Darbar. She was accompanied by her young daughter who narrated her mother’s woes to the DC. She said her uncle has grabbed their land, built a cow shed on it and harasses her mother.
DC Dodde heard her complaint and asked her if the joint property is partitioned and if land etc partitioned then whether it has been mutated in her mother’s name. The young girl was mostly negative on all these counts.
Dodde told the mother-daughter duo to move to civil court as a collector has no power to settle a family feud. The duo had a mindset that the DC could help them. It is with every petitioner that DC can bring succour to them, according to many petitioners.
DC Dodde spoke to the CO Nilamber Pitamberpur on phone directing him to see the case of Rekha Devi.
Another petitioner Navin Kumar came with the issue that he wanted a settlement of the forest land in his name. On this, Dodde reminded him very strongly that forest land can’t be settled like this. There is a long procedure for the forest dwellers rights act. Dodde told the man that he could not help him in this forest land issue as if he passed any order then the forest department would lodge an FIR against the DC. Navin understood the matter and walked in peace out of the Janta Darbar.
Dodde said no petitioner comes with issues regarding health, education, road and other public utility schemes. No one speaks for the drought-like situation as well.
After land, the other great demand that is made in the Janta Darbar is colony which means Awas Yojna. Dodde directed his officer to see why an old man Krishna Tiwary is harassed by co-residents. Tiwary has petitioned that some vested elements were trying to seal a government well.
Taking a very serious note of this brazen attempt to seal the government well DC asked for lodging of the FIR if the wrongdoers do not desist from this unlawful activity.
Sources said words were spread here that since Dodde is of South India he will find it hard to interact with commons in their dialect. The language will be a barrier.
However, lagatar24.com correspondent found the petitioners and the DC understood each other well.
A migrant labourer Manoj Kumar told DC that he worked in Bangaluru but his wages there are stuck up. This migrant labourer referred to the labour officer also. The DC directed for his case. Many petitioners told this correspondent today that the DC issues directions and orders to his officers down the line in front of them which is relieving to them.
