Ranchi, Dec 26:  Former CMD of Coal India Limited Gopal Singh has stressed on the need to guarantee BPL students’ admission to reputable institutions.

Speaking at a function held at Vidyapati Dalan in Harmu Housing Colony to mark Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya’s 161st birthday on Sunday, Singh said that providing great education to underprivileged children will forward the goals of Madan Mohan Malviya, who founded Banaras Hindu University.

The Mahamana Malaviya Mission’s Ranchi branch organised the programme.

Providing a solution, Singh said that if the poor children are given access to some basic education, they may easily be admitted to quality schools under the 25 percent BPL quota. Quality schools only accept students who have some level of basic education, he added.

The Mahamana Malaviya Mission’s Ranchi branch organised the programme.

Singh discussed his professional experience in the area and described how a minimal investment may make it happen.

N.N. Pandey, former home secretary and a BHU alumni, and RSS official Gurusharan Prasad, were present at the event.

RSS functionary Prasad praised the concept, adding it will make a significant contribution to society. He had previously described how Malviya had created opportunity in the face of difficulty in the sphere of education. He also voiced worry that, in contrast to previous leaders, Malviya received little space in newspapers on the occasion of his birth.

At the time, Prasad discussed self-employment and said that not everyone could obtain government employment. Prior to the entrance of the British, the country’s cottage industries were so robust that everyone had employment, and citizens were unconcerned with the actions of their leaders.

Arun Kumar Jha and Arjun Ram, councillors for the Ranchi Municipal Corporation, agreed with this sentiment. According to Jha, the task might begin by clearing the way for the enrollment of maids’ kids in reputable schools. Ram claimed that he always assists underprivileged kids in getting their birth certificates in a timely manner to prevent them from being denied admission for not having a valid birth certificate.

Pandey previously recalled Malviya’s aptitude in a variety of subjects. In addition to being a journalist, politician, and teacher, he claimed, Malviya was also a competent attorney. He explained to the audience how Malviya defended 156 of the 177 defendants in the Chaura Chori case, which happened during the war for independence.

Veerendra Narayan Singh, the general secretary of the Mahamana Malviya Mission’s Ranchi section, informed the audience of Malviya’s achievements by stating that, despite his poverty, he founded a university with the help of the community during a time when the nation was not governed by the British. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for awarding Malviya the Bharat Ratna posthumously alongside Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
