Dhanbad, Oct 19: The All India FCI VSS Employees’ Association has shot off a letter to the Secretary of Chemical and Fertilizer Ministry, Government of India, demanding an extension of the quarters lease out scheme for three months till  March 31st 2024.

All India FCI VSS Employees Association president Sardar Sewa Singh in the letter has pointed out that since the quarters lease out scheme requires a substantial amount, it should be extended up to  March 31st from December 30th.

The management of Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited (FCI) Sindri unit on Monday launched a scheme for leasing out its Sindri township based quarters to the unauthorized occupants on commercial rent.

In the circular, the FCI management also fixed the rent structure of quarters for its retired, VSS employees their, dependents and unauthorized occupants.  As per the circular, the last date for applying for the quarter is December 30, 2023, under the scheme.

The FCI Sindri unit has different types of total 8500 quarters in the township in which around 1500 have been given on 11-month lease to its retired and VSS employees whereas unauthorised persons have occupied the rest of the quarters.

Besides extending the date of the scheme from December 30 to March 31, All India FCI VSS Employees Association president Sardar Sewa Singh in his letter to the Secretary of Chemical and Fertilizer, has also urged him to define the relative of an ex-employee and the documents required for the purpose as ‘Proof’.

“We have also demanded that like ex-employees, the relatives of ex-employees should also be allotted quarters on normal rent basis instead of commercial rent basis”, said Sewa Singh.

The Association has also demanded that the rebate of 25% be allowed even if the amount of lease rent is paid in three instalments. The Association has also demanded media persons, insurance agents, private schools and college teachers to be considered eligible persons for the regularization of quarters.
