Dhanbad, June 16: VSS Employees of closed Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) Sindri have protested against renting out of organization’s quarters to the staff of other institutions. They have urged the management to continue the lease to widows of the workers.
At the meeting of FCI Sindri VSS Employees Association, which is the frontal organization of thousands of retired staff and workers, the members today urged the FCI management and fertilizer ministry to allow widows of retired employees in the quarter that has been given them on a lease and make a policy for vacant quarters and land of the closed factory.
Closed FCI Sindri has over 6500 quarters in which around 1400 quarters were given to VSS employees and widows of staff on the lease following the ruling of the Delhi High Court. As per the directive, VSS staff and widows of employees were given quarters on an 11-month lease which was renewed every year.
“Now FCI management has stopped receiving lease rent of VSS staff and widow of the employee. Through RTI we came to know that FCI management is going to give its vacant quarters to the staff of other organizations. Hindustan Urvarak Rasayan Limited (HURL) which has come up in place of FCI Sindri is going to construct its separate colony for employees. So, we have urged fertilizer ministry to allow widow of the employees in the quarter on lease and formulate quarter and land property policy in the interest of the organization as well as VSS employees,” said Sewa Singh, president of the association.
The association also urged the fertilizer ministry to receive annual lease rent of widows/dependents of VSS employees who have a security deposit for the quarter and also give quarters on lease to retired employees/ shopkeepers and others.
VSS employees association resented that VSS staff were given quarters on lease only after depositing security money but now management is providing quarters on lease to the staff of Sindri-based other organizations without taking security money.
RC Prasad, Umashankar Singh, SP Shah, Ravi Philips, Morgan Philips, BK Mishra and other office bearers of the association were also present at the meeting.
