Hazaribag, Aug 3: Acting on the application of Chauparan BDO Premchand Sinha on charges of embezzlement of government funds under the PM Awas Yojana (Gramin), the Chauparan police have registered a case against 20 beneficiaries of the scheme. The FIR has been registered under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC. Sources said despite taking the first instalment, beneficiaries didn’t utilise the money for the construction of house for which this fund was allotted.

The BDO said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), houses were sanctioned to the entitled beneficiaries. Each house was to be built in Rs 1,30,000. The first instalment amount of Rs 40,000 was sent to the account of the beneficiaries. But the amount was embezzled by not constructing the house.

The BDO said that despite three notices to the beneficiaries, construction work was not started making them take this legal action. With the FIR lodged on Wednesday, sources said beneficiaries will face legal action now.
