Dhanbad, Sept 11: The district administration on Saturday filed an FIR against the owner and directors of a hard coke industry in Govindpur police station in connection with coal smuggling.
A district administration official said a high-level team led by ADM ( law and order) Dr Kumar Tarachand and SDM Prem Kumar Tiwari assessed the coal stock of Mahadev Hard Coke Plant at Barwa under Govindpur police station and unearthed mass irregularities in the transaction of coal.
ADM, law and order, Dr Kumar Tarachand said that only 7944 tons of coal was found in the hard coke plant against the total stock of 15,909 tons. Hard Coke operator (owner) and directors failed to produce papers regarding the missing stock of 7962 tons of coal.
The official said hard coke industry operator ( owner) Manager Rai failed to produce even a Chalan of ferrying coal and incurred revenue loss to the government. The officials also found differences in papers over coal stock in the mining department and in the plant stock.
District mining officer (DMO) Ajit Kumar, mining Inspector Dilip Kumar, and Sunil Kumar, who were also members of the raid team, seized 7944 tons of coal from the plant and lodged an FIR against hard coke plant owner Manager Rai and directors in Govindpur police station.
Manager Rai is said to be a senior leader of a national political party.
