Bhopal, Aug 13: An FIR was reportedly filed against Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath in Indore on Saturday night. Priyanka Gandhi wrote on Twitter on Friday claiming that an association of contractors from Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court complaining that they get paid only after giving 50 per cent commission. Earlier, BJP leaders had warned of legal action against Priyanka Gandhi.
Priyanka Gandhi had alleged that the corrupt BJP government in Karnataka used to charge 40 per cent commission. But the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh is breaking the record of corruption. She said that the people of Karnataka defeated the government with a 40 per cent commission. Now the people of MP will remove the government with a 50 per cent commission from power.
On Saturday, a release has been issued by the official Twitter account of the Police Commissioner of Indore. According to this, Nimesh Pathak, the convenor of the local unit of BJP’s legal cell, had complained that a person (Gyanendra Awasthi) had allegedly made a fake letter viral on social media, in which 50 per cent commission has been asked from the contractors. On this complaint, a case is registered against the handlers of the Twitter accounts of Priyanka Gandhi, Kamal Nath and Arun Yadav, including Awasthi, at the Sanyogitaganj police station.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramsanehi Mishra said that this FIR has been registered under section 420 (cheating) and section 469 (forgery with intent to harm reputation) of the Indian Penal Code. Nimesh Pathak has alleged that Congress leaders have put out misleading social media posts falsely accusing the BJP government of the state of being involved in corruption and this is an attempt to tarnish the image of the BJP government and its party.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the police are verifying the authenticity of the concerned Twitter handle. At the same time, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Singh Chandel said that a case has been registered in Gwalior in connection with the controversial social media post. He said that on the complaint of Pankaj Paliwal, member of BJP’s District Working Committee, the Crime Branch of Gwalior Police has registered a case against Gyanendra Awasthi and others in connection with the letter accusing the ruling party of indulging in corruption.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Home Minister Narottam Mishra have termed Priyanka’s allegation as false. Warning them they said the state government and the BJP can take legal action and the opposition party is spreading lies on social media. Narottam Mishra said that Congress in Madhya Pradesh is doing politics with a hateful mentality without any issue. However, the state unit of Congress said that the BJP-led government is corrupt and she’ll prove it.
