Daltonganj, Aug 4: An FLC (First Level Check) of the EVMs (Electronic Voting Machine) and VVPATs (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails) has begun in Daltonganj which is expected to be over around the second week of the ongoing month.
The start of the FLC is indicative of the fact that the General Election 2024 is round the corner. The FLC is being done in a highly safe and secure atmosphere here.
The FLC of the EVMs and VVPATs is mandated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) which is carried out by a dedicated team of engineers whose EVMs and VVPATs are under the close eyes and supervision of a senior administrative officer of the rank of the additional collector.
Under the protocol for the FLC as prescribed by the Election Commission of India there is no off day even on Sunday or even on a holiday.
There were 1,795 polling booths in Palamu Lok Sabha constituency comprising the whole of Garhwa district as well.
The FLC of the EVMs and VVPATs is done at least 6 months before the commencement of the Lok Sabha election.
The FLC of the EVMs and VVPATs is done by way of cleansing of the equipment, visual inspection, symbol loading, mock polling for a minimum of six votes etc where if the EVMs and VVPATs pass all the rigours to test are certified as OK with a green stick while on failing the machines bears reject with a red sticker.
The FLC of EVMs and VVPATs is, in fact, a diagnostic test where remedial measures are as severe as the diagnosis of the follies of the EVMs and VVPATs.
National and regional recognized political parties are first briefed about it.
Sub-divisional magistrate Rajesh Kr Sah is the notified officer of the FLC of the EVMs and VVPATs.
Sah firmly refused to utter a word about the ongoing FLC of the EVMs and VVPATs here.
FLC of the EVMs and VVPATs is done at 125 to 135 per cent of the total number of polling stations in the Lok Sabha constituency.
