Ranchi, Nov 17: In an initiative to provide private school-level education to the students in five excellence and 29 model schools in the state, including five in Ranchi, the State Education and Literacy department is set to provide training to teachers.
The state’s Adarsh Vidyalaya Programme, for this, lays emphasis on secondary and higher secondary level education. The government has taken steps towards projecting the teachers of these schools as ‘changemakers’. The Azim Premji Foundation will be providing training to principals and teachers teaching in schools in the state.
Earlier, in a statement, the CM’s office had said, “Under the directions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, efforts are being made to provide quality education to the children of the government schools that are at par with the educational standards of the private schools.”
“Through the ambitious Adarsh Vidyalaya Programme, the government is giving necessary impetus to the secondary and higher secondary level of education and is all set to project teachers of these institutions as ‘Changemakers’ of the society,” it said.
Kamla Singh, District Education Officer, Ranchi, in this regard said, “A total of 80 schools in the state while five excellence schools in Ranchi have been selected for the first phase. Infrastructure is being prepared in these schools. Separate arrangements are being made for smart classes along the lines of private schools. It is expected that apart from the construction of the building, other works will be completed within three months.”
Selected schools from Ranchi include Jila School, Ranchi; Vermont Girls Plus Two High School, Bariatu; Model School, Kanke; TVS, Jagannathpur; and Kasturba Girls School, Namkum, Singh added.
Notably, in the first phase of this training programme, special attention will be given to English, Science, Mathematics, Social Science and Hindi. The Azim Premji Foundation is working with the Department of School Education and Literacy to conceptualize and conduct the capacity-building programme for school headmasters, DIET faculty, subject-specific master trainers and key stakeholders of Adarsh Vidyalaya. Institutes like IIM are also ready to provide training to principals and teachers of model schools. Notably, the selected 5 excellent and 29 model schools of the district will also have buildings constructed on the lines of private schools.
Capacity-building workshops have been planned for the trainees in the 10-month training programme designed for educators. Through this, the subject expertise of teachers teaching at secondary and higher secondary levels i.e. from ninth to 12th standard will be monitored.
A comprehensive capacity-building programme will be organised for 150 DIET faculties wherein visualization of diets and description of work will be included. Under this scheme, a total of three workshops will be organised every five days. Here, work will be done to develop the capacity of 200 subject-specific master trainers for English, Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Hindi and Science.
As per the information, several opportunities will be available for students in said schools. These will include training through a series of workshops aimed at creating an effective ecosystem for around 4,000 model schools in the state and providing quality education to children; improvement in academic quality in school; enhancement of leadership capacity for quality improvement, development of learning culture; and creation of learning environment and other training.
