New Delhi, April 19: Five Prayagraj police personnel were suspended on Wednesday in connection with the killings of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. They were posted at Shahganj Police Station. This police station was in charge of the MLN Medical College, where the brothers were shot.
On April 16 in Prayagraj, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf—both suspects in the murder of Umesh Pal—were murdered by three individuals posing as journalists. Numerous police officials and journalists who had come to interrogate Atiq and his brother were present when the incident occurred.
The three shooters, Lavlesh Tiwari, 22, of Banda, and Sunny Singh, 23, of Hamirpur, as well as Arun Maurya, 18, of Kasganj, were placed on four-day police remand till April 23 on Wednesday.
On the same day that Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, presided over a meeting to track down Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen and the other suspect in the murder of Umesh Pal, Guddu Muslim, the police officers were suspended and the shooters of Atiq and brother were placed in police custody.
One of the ten people included in the FIR for the murder of Umesh Pal is Guddu Muslim. Guddu Muslim is one of the four people on the run and six of them have been dead.
Amitabh Yash, the chief of the STF for the Uttar Pradesh Police, Special DG Prashant Kumar, and other police officers also participated in the video conference meeting. The officials talked about how to find Shaista and Guddu Muslim swiftly.
More than 20 persons have been named by the police as potential Shaista Parveen supporters so far. Karnataka was Guddu Muslim’s last known location.
