Ranchi, April 30: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Saturday conducted a review meeting helmed by Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra. The mayor not only discussed issues like the limited water supply and the problems that the city dwellers may face while talking to concerned officials of the RMC.
Furthermore, she reviewed the conditions of hand pumps and deep borings in the RMC area, along with the hydrant points in the city.
During the review meeting, the Mayor investigated the actions being taken through the control room of Ranchi Municipal Corporation. Like a common person, she dialed the toll-free number of the control room and demanded from the personnel present in the control room (Arvind) to supply water through a tanker.
In response, the personnel present in the control room said that they should recommend their ward councilor to demand water supply through tankers, only after which water supply service would be made available through tankers. On hearing this, the Mayor took immediate action and called the concerned employee to reprimand them. She further directed them to take action against the concerned employee.
As per the Mayor, there are a total of 136 points in the city where water may be delivered through a tanker. Apart from this, the RMC has 2507 hand pumps, 174 deep borings (HYDT) and 1324 mini HYDT. She further informed that RMC has five hydrant points wherein the tankers can fill up water along with the Booty reservoir.
“A total of 90 new borings have been made in various wards under the civic amenities. People often rotate the T points in the places where T points have been installed for piped water supply. Due to this, water supply is done through pipelines on one side only. However, now monitoring of T points will be done through an Enforcement Team. The facility of water supply by tanker is available free of cost at the collective level and with fixed charges at the private level,” she said.
“For water supply by tanker, people can contact the city manager’s mobile number 7250955956. Apart from this, to solve the problems related to water supply, complaints can be lodged in the RMC control room on toll-free number 0651-2200011 and mobile number 9431104429,” she added.
While talking about the garbage collection plans of RMC, mayor Lakra said, “After the removal of CDC, cleaning work is being done by Ranchi Municipal Corporation in three shifts (morning, afternoon and night). In commercial areas, cleaning work is being done at night, while through STF, cleaning and garbage collection will be done in such streets and localities that are not possible to clean through the corporation. However, residents may contact City Manager Robin on mobile number 7004582752 for solutions to problems related to cleanliness and door-to-door waste collection.”
Additionally, she said, “We are also monitoring cleaning of big and small drains before the monsoon begins, so that waterlogging issues do not arise. Apart from this, chemicals are also being sprayed on the drains and waterlogging areas at the ward level to destroy the mosquito larvae along with fogging.”
