Former cricketer Vinod Kambli booked for assaulting wife

Mumbai, Feb 5: The Mumbai Police have charged former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli with abusing his wife. Andrea Hewitt, Kambli’s wife, had reported him after she said he had assaulted and abused her on Friday under the influence of Alcohol in a Bandra apartment.

Vinod Kambli allegedly hit his wife in the head with the handle of a cooking pan, causing her to have a brain injury, according to Kambli’s wife.

The incident happened on Friday between 1 and 1.30 pm when Kambli, who was allegedly drunk, arrived at his Bandra apartment and abused his wife. Following that, he hurried to the kitchen, grabbed a pan, and flung it at his wife.

According to a Bandra Police official, Kambli’s wife sought treatment at Bhabha Hospital before contacting the police. No one has been arrested in this case as of yet.

“FIR registered against former cricketer Vinod Kambli at Bandra Police Station in Mumbai on the complaint of his wife Andrea. Her complaint stated that he verbally abused and thrashed her under the influence of alcohol. No arrest made yet,” said Mumbai Police.
