Ahmedabad: Still recovering from the teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record-breaking century, Gujarat Titans (GT) will look to regain momentum when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at home on Friday in a must-win IPL 2025encounter.
The Titans suffered an eight-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals earlier this week, largely due to 14-year-old Suryavanshi’s fearless knock that stunned the cricketing world. While GT’s playoff hopes are still alive with a win, SRH’s chances hinge on a win and favourable outcomes in other matches.
GT Need Course Correction
GT’s strategic template — playing conservatively in the powerplay and accelerating in the death overs — once again fetched them a competitive 200+ total. But it wasn’t enough in Jaipur, where Suryavanshi’s explosive knock ripped through the Titans’ bowling unit.
Their bowling plans, typically built around mirroring the opposition’s length and tempo, failed to counter the bold and inventive strokeplay displayed by the teenage prodigy.
Speaking after the match, GT’s Sai Sudharsan admitted,
“The way Vaibhav Suryavanshi batted, it was fantastic to watch. We didn’t expect such an assault, especially from someone that young. But hats off to him.”
High Stakes For Both Sides
For Gujarat Titans, a victory will keep their playoff destiny in their own hands, while for Sunrisers Hyderabad, even a win might not suffice without favourable results from other fixtures. This context raises the stakes ahead of the crucial clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
