Bengaluru: The IPL 2025 final was nothing short of a dream for cricket fans — especially for loyal supporters of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). After 17 seasons without a title, RCB finally clinched their first-ever IPL trophy by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs. The match turned on the performance of all-rounder Krunal Pandya, who bowled a game-changing spell of 4 overs for just 17 runs and took 2 key wickets.
Following the win, an emotional post by RCB’s founding owner Vijay Mallya went viral across social media. Mallya, who played a crucial role in RCB’s early years — including bringing in stars like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, and AB de Villiers — expressed his long-held dream of seeing the IPL trophy come to Bengaluru.
Posting on X, Mallya wrote:
“When I started RCB, my only dream was to see the IPL trophy come to Bengaluru one day. It was a matter of pride for me to pick Virat Kohli as a young player, and it’s even more special that he showed loyalty to the team for 18 long years.”
He added:
“I had the honour of bringing cricketing legends like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers into the team, who remain an unforgettable part of RCB’s history. Now that the team has finally won the trophy, I want to thank everyone who helped make this dream come true. RCB fans deserve this more than anyone else. Ee Sala Cup Bengaluru Baruthe — this time, the cup has truly come to Bengaluru.”
