Daltonganj, Dec.21: A four-day vaccination drive was launched today at five mazdoor bazaars in Daltonganj, according to the civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar.

General Secretary of Jharkhand state Dihadi Mazdoor Union, Rajiv Kumar is all out for hundred percent vaccinations of the labourers of the unorganised sectors.

There are five mazdoor bazaars at Sadik manzil, Kanni Ram More,  Redma chowk, Bairya More and Vivekananda Chowk in the town where hundreds of labourers stand and wait for employment on a daily basis.

Rajiv Kumar said he has told his people to take the jab as this will help them in many ways.

“A large number of our labourers migrate from here to other parts of the country to eke out a living and if they are the first dose vaccinated then it will not be any difficult for them to have their second dose,” he added.

Sadar SDO Rajesh Kumar Sah has also helped the health teams to vaccinate the labourers.

“As it was our first day of the four-day vaccination drive today, we hope we will be achieving a good number of vaccinations at this mazdoor bazaar in the coming three days,” said Dr Anil Kumar.

The health teams are targeting even those labourers who could not get employment today.

Tally of the vaccination of the labourers is not available till the time of filing of this report.

District epidemiologist Dr Anup kr Singh said: “Our vaccination teams rolled out quite early in the morning to tap the unvaccinated eligibles.”
