Ranchi, Nov 23: Four children from Jharkhand have been rescued from the clutches of human traffickers in Delhi and are being brought back to Jharkhand. Ranchi District Child Protection Officer Ved Prakash Tiwari and Durga Shankar have left for Delhi to take them back to Ranchi to rehabilitate them.
In a press communiqué, the Jharkhand government informed that among the four rescued children, three are boys belonging to Ranchi fourth is a girl who hails from the Gumla district. These boys were rescued from Delhi railway station and the girl was working as a domestic help. She was subjected to cruelty and denied wages.
Nachiketa, nodal officer, Integrated Rehabilitation cum Resource Center, New Delhi informed said that all four children were taken to Delhi at different times. Delhi Police rescued three boys from the railway station. The girl was brought to Delhi by a human trafficker. She was sold as a domestic worker and she was made to work day and night. She was not even being given money. She ultimately ran away and someone informed the police.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed Child Development Department and all districts to ensure to extend utmost care to such children and those who are vulnerable to human trafficking.
Notably, the resident commissioner of Jharkhand Mastram Meena has given instructions to the Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Center to regularly visit children’s homes and keep tabs on human traffickers.
