Fuel rates hike for fourth straight day, Diesel crosses 100 mark in 13 states

New Delhi, Oct 17: Government oil companies have increased fuel prices for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday. Petrol and diesel prices have been increased by 35-35 paise per liter in Delhi today. After the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, the price of petrol in Delhi has reached Rs 105.84 and the price of diesel has reached Rs 94.57 per liter.

Petrol and diesel have become costlier 14th time in 17 days, this month. Due to this, petrol has become costlier by Rs 4.20 and diesel by Rs 4.70 in the capital Delhi. On the other hand, if we talk about 2021, then on January 1, petrol was Rs 83.97 and diesel Rs 74.12 per liter. Now it is at 105.84 and Rs 94.57 per liter. That is, in less than 10 months, petrol has become costlier by Rs 21.87 and diesel by Rs 20.45.

Petrol has crossed Rs 100 per liter in 29 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh,  Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Nagaland, Telangana, Punjab, Sikkim, Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Tripura, Mizoram, Jharkhand, Goa, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya and Rajasthan.

On the other hand, diesel is also above Rs 100 per liter in 13 states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Telangana, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Notably, fuel prices vary from state to state depending on the taxes and freight charges.
