Bird-hit accidents, according to sources, are common, but they present significant technological difficulties and can be quite dangerous.
In February, a bird attack during takeoff forced an IndiGo aircraft from Surat to Delhi to make a divert to Ahmedabad.
The aircraft landed safely in Ahmedabad, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which also verified the event.
