Dhanbad, July 31: President of the Federation of University Teachers Association of Jharkhand (FUTAJ) Dr NK Singh has called upon the teachers of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU), Dhanbad to protest the alleged abuse of power by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Sukhdeo Bhoi.

In a letter to all the teachers of BBMKU Dhanbad-Bokaro based constituent colleges, FUTAJ president Dr Singh has said he has got information from a senior teacher of the university that the VC allegedly insults all the teachers and principals and calls them ‘Chor’ (thief) not once but several times at several meetings.

“It must be protested from all quarters,” said  Dr NK Singh in his letter to teachers. the FUTAJ is a frontal organization of the teachers of all seven universities of the state. This is the first time in  23 years, the FUTAJ has openly protested a Vice-Chancellor of state university.

A copy of the FUTAJ president’s letter is in possession of Lagatar24.com.

Dr NK Singh, who retired from Dumka University on May 31, has not mentioned the name of the BBMKU senior teacher who informed him and at which meeting the V-C Dr Sukhdeo Bhoi allegedly abused teachers and principals of the university.

“I have got information that Chancellor (Governor ) has ordered a corruption probe against  Dr Bhoi. But  Dr Bhoi allegedly calls teachers/principals ‘Chor’. It is the responsibility of the teachers’ organization (BBMKU Teachers Association) to give him (VC) a befitting reply in his own language,” Dr NK Singh said in his letter.

The FUTAJ president has, at the same time, also expressed concern over the prevailing attitude of casteism and individual interest among teachers.

“It is my personal experience that such VCs come and apply the divide and rule policy in teachers’ organizations to get an advantage and go away after completing their tenure,” he said.

The FUTAJ president has said that the education department has given the VC no power to insult a teacher but he would go ruining your character in the society. “So, it is high time to fight for the dignity of the teachers’ community and show solidarity among themselves by protesting such abuse,” he added.
